Terms of Service

Last updated: August 18, 2026. Plain English, because you should be able to read the whole thing.

1. Who we are

VerbatimPrep is operated by JeLe Ventures LLC, a Florida limited liability company. In these Terms, "we," "us," and "VerbatimPrep" mean JeLe Ventures LLC. "You" means the person using the site.

You can reach us at jeff@verbatimprep.com.

2. Agreeing to these Terms

By creating an account or using verbatimprep.com, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

3. What VerbatimPrep is, and what it is not

VerbatimPrep is exam preparation software. You listen to dictation, type or voice-write a transcript, submit it, and we score it against the error categories published in the National Verbatim Reporters Association's CVR grading guidelines.

Here is what we are not, stated plainly because it matters:

4. Who can use VerbatimPrep

You must be at least 18 to open an account in your own name.

If you are 13 to 17, a parent or legal guardian must open the account, hold it, and agree to these Terms for you.

VerbatimPrep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we find out we have, we delete it. See the Privacy Policy.

5. Your account

6. Plans and prices

Plan Price What it is
Free $0 Phase 1 practice at 120 and 140 WPM, full scoring, progress dashboard. No payment, no expiration, no card required.
Pro Monthly $99 per month Everything in Free, plus the full speed ladder, voice writing content, exam simulation, and the complete passage library.
Program Pass $799 for 12 months The same access as Pro Monthly, paid once for a year.

The Free tier is not a trial. It does not expire and it does not turn into a paid plan on its own. We have no present intention of taking it away.

Prices are in US dollars and do not include any tax we are required to collect.

Founding and promotional rates. If we give you a locked rate in writing, we honor it for as long as your paid subscription runs without a lapse. If you cancel and come back later, you come back at whatever the price is then.

7. Billing and automatic renewal

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Before we take your billing information, we show you the price, the billing period, the date of your first charge, whether and when the plan renews, and how to cancel. You have to affirmatively agree to those terms before we charge you. We will not charge you for anything you did not agree to.

Pro Monthly. $99 charged when you subscribe, then $99 on the same day each month, automatically, until you cancel.

Program Pass. $799 charged when you subscribe, for 12 months of access. It does not renew automatically. When the 12 months are up, your account drops back to the Free tier and we do not charge you again. We will email you before it ends so you can decide whether to resubscribe. Your practice history stays where it is.

Cancelling. You cancel the same way you signed up: in your account settings on this site, in a couple of clicks. No phone call. No chat queue. No one asking you to reconsider three times. If that ever fails for any reason, email jeff@verbatimprep.com and we will cancel it for you.

8. Refunds

Pro Monthly. Cancel any time. Cancellation takes effect immediately, meaning you will not be billed again. You keep Pro access through the end of the month you already paid for. We do not prorate partial months.

Program Pass. Full refund if you ask within 30 days of the purchase charge. After 30 days it is non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.

Free tier. Your Phase 1 access and your practice history stay available whether or not you ever pay, and they stay available after you cancel a paid plan.

To ask for a refund, email jeff@verbatimprep.com from the address on your account.

9. Price changes

We may change our prices. If you have an active paid subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your plan, and the new price starts at your next renewal. If you do not want it, cancel before then.

10. What you submit

Your transcripts and your notes are yours. You keep them.

You give us a limited license to store what you submit, run it through the scorer, show it back to you, and keep it in your practice history. That license exists so the product can work, and it goes no further than that.

Do not paste confidential material into a practice transcript. Practice on our passages. Do not practice on a real proceeding, a real client file, or anything under a protective order.

11. Our content

The practice passages, the audio, the scoring logic, the coaching text, and the site itself belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. Your account is a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own training.

You may not republish, redistribute, resell, or use our content to run a competing training program. You may not scrape it, bulk download it, or feed it into an automated system without our written permission.

12. Acceptable use

Do not:

13. Trademarks

NVRA®, National Verbatim Reporters Association®, and Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR®) are marks of the National Verbatim Reporters Association. We use those names only to describe the examination this software prepares you for. We are independent of NVRA. Other names and marks belong to their owners.

14. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time. Our Privacy Policy explains how, and what happens to your data.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that charges back a legitimate payment, or that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your breach, we refund the unused part of what you paid.

15. Availability

We work to keep the site up, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and we may change or retire features. If we retire a paid feature that was central to your plan, we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

16. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent Florida law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the scoring engine is free of error, that it will score a transcript the same way a human NVRA grader would, or that practicing here will produce any particular result.

17. Limit on liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to VerbatimPrep shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise. We are not liable for lost profits, lost income, lost opportunities, or for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Some of these limits do not apply where the law does not permit them, including for fraud or for personal injury caused by our own negligence. Nothing in these Terms takes away a right you have under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, or under any other law that cannot be waived by agreement.

18. Indemnity

If your use of the site, or your breach of these Terms, causes someone else to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of defending it. This does not apply to claims caused by our own conduct.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will email account holders and update the date at the top at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the change. If you do not accept it, cancel, and if you are inside a refund window, ask for the refund.

20. Governing law and where disputes go

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or to VerbatimPrep goes to the state or federal courts located in Pinellas County, Florida, and both of us consent to that venue.

Either of us may still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.

21. The rest

If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce something, that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a successor of the business. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about VerbatimPrep.
